Two States Ban Internet Hunting
California and Wisconsin join the growing list of states that have passed legislation to ban the practice of internet hunting. According to reports, Wisconsin Senator Neil Kedzie (R-Elkhorn) summed up the feelings of many sportsmen by stating, "Like thousands of other Wisconsin hunters who understand and appreciate our hunting heritage, this Internet service is deeply disturbing to me. While I appreciate the advances of technology, hunting is a tradition of track and chase, not point and click." NASC continues to assist state legislators with legislation banning this practice that goes directly against the fair chase ethic which has served outdoorsmen well for centuries.
Michigan Passes Bill to Assist Hunter’s Feeding the Hungry Program
In the wake of the worst natural disaster in the history of our country which has taken a toll on many charitable organizations that provide food for the poor, the Michigan legislature passed two bills on Wednesday that will ease the burden of processing donated meat by Sportsmen Against Hunger. House Bill 4145 will allow hunters to donate an additional one dollar at the time of their hunting license purchase to be used to defray the cost of processing harvested wild game donated by hunters. House Bill 4071 goes a step further and allows hunters to actually donate wild game and additional funds at the time of their license purchase.
