Maryland Sportsmen’s Caucus First in the Nation to Pledge to Pass on Fishing Traditions
Members of the Maryland Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus became the first to sign the Anglers’ Legacy Pledge, a promise to introduce someone new to the joys of fishing. Sportsmen’s Caucus Co-Chairs Senator John Astle (D-Annapolis) and Delegate Rick Weldon (R-Brunswick) signed the pledge and are promoting the effort within the rest of the Sportsmen’s Caucus, making it the first of the nation’s 29 state legislative sportsmen’s caucuses to support the effort.

Louisiana Sportsmen’s Caucus Passes “No Net Loss” Legislation
The Louisiana Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus was triumphant when the Louisiana Legislature unanimously passed SB 30, a “No Net Loss” of public hunting and fishing lands bill. In doing so, Louisiana joins Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Maryland and Mississippi in passing the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC) model legislation.

Louisiana Sportsmen’s Caucus Apprentice Hunting License Bill Goes to Governor
Legislation which aims to reverse declining numbers of hunters by making it easier for first time hunters to go hunting passed both the House of Representatives and Senate unanimously. S.329, a bill introduced by Louisiana Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus Co-Chair Senator Joe McPherson (D-Woodworth), is modeled after legislation promoted and distributed by the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucus designed to remove barriers to first time hunters by allowing for a one time exception to go hunting without taking the long hunter education course.

Sportsmen’s Caucus Apprentice Hunting License Bill Becomes Law

Sportsman Legislators Take to Firing Range in Support of Shooting Sports
The leadership of the Oklahoma Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus invited fellow members of the Legislature to escape the State Capitol for a day this week to learn about the shooting sports, our outdoor heritage and firearm safety.
