Sen. John Astle
Dear Fellow Sportsman,
The benefit of having sportsmen’s caucuses camped out on the ground in state capitols has never been more obvious than in 2006. Sharing information and ideas has led to an incomparable force in state governments around the country, one that is focused on passing pro-sportsmen’s legislation and defeating attacks from the anti-hunting lobby.
In 2006, we welcomed three new sportsmen’s caucuses and saw unprecedented success in promoting the sportsmen’s agenda. Not only did the number of caucuses grow, but also legislator participation in caucuses from California to Vermont, giving us a base of nearly 2,000 lawmakers mobilized in their capitols.
NASC worked with those legislators who share our passion for the outdoors and stood united to pass more than 180 bills concerning hunting, fishing, trapping and conservation. In its second year, the network of sportsmen’s caucuses rooted in state capitols around the country actively involved in sharing legislation and views has been a benefit to outdoorsmen and women and the industry and organizations that serve them.
We look back and celebrate the success, but always keep an eye on the future with plans to accomplish even more.Sincerely,
Senator John Astle
