Big Game Hunting Licenses for Youth is Top Priority
For New York Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus
Albany, NY - A breakfast get-together on Tuesday, April 15th in Albany, hosted for the New York Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus, brought nearly two dozen pro-sportsmen legislators in touch with numerous state sportsmen’s groups and the industry partners that support them. The breakfast was hosted by the New York Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) and the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC). Turkey talk took center stage, but the real buzz was about a proposal to allow youngsters to hunt big game in the Empire State.

In its first session as a unified group, the caucus directed important legislation that is tough on poachers and challenges federal intrusion into a state’s issue.

BOISE, ID – The Idaho Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus once again took action on sportsmen’s related bills in the state legislature’s 2008 session which recently came to a close. Idaho’s sportsmen have good news to celebrate with the passage of two bills that protect shooting ranges and another that discourages unlicensed outfitters and their ‘clients’.

State Caucus to Join NASC
Topeka, KS – Sportsmen will now have an influential ally in the State Legislature as Kansas forms its Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus with a Kick-Off event at the Topeka Country Club this evening. The Caucus will also become the 35th state affiliated with the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC).

Jefferson City, MO - Leaders and members of the Missouri Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus and the Conservation Federation of Missouri (CFM) had some fun ‘shooting the bull’ when they met recently with representatives of the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP) and students from South Callaway High School to take a few shots with bows and arrows and discuss Missouri’s continuing participation in the nationwide educational program.
Maryland’s Encoded Ammunition Bill Fails - Major Victory for Hunters and Gun Owners
Annapolis, MD – Maryland’s sportsmen and gun owners are heartened by back-to-back victories in the Maryland Legislature. A House of Representatives bill that would have required all handgun and several calibers of rifle ammunition sold in Maryland to be microscopically engraved with serial numbers by the manufacturers has failed.
